Grace
I am Divine; Instead of lashing out, I offer grace.
The Gospel of Luke tells the story of a father who divides his property between his two sons. After wasting his inheritance and then experiencing extreme poverty, the younger son returns to his father’s home humbled. When the young man declares his unworthiness to be called “son,” his father gives him gifts and celebrates his homecoming. His father offered his son grace instead of condemnation.
This story demonstrates the grace we can offer each other. When someone “does me wrong,” I might want to lash out in a multitude of ways. However, when I remember I am Divine, I know I am the Principle of Benevolence. Instead of punishment or unforgiveness I use Benevolence to offer grace. When I am tempted to enter into self-condemnation, I offer myself grace.
I am Divine; Instead of lashing out, I offer grace.
